Study Programs
– Introduction

The concept of the WVEPAH programs is to offer comprehensive training modules, consisting of a combination of online courses and residential sessions. Our training modules are designed for professionals in the poultry, aqua and swine industries who wish to broaden their knowledge in the areas of animal health and production. Our intensive and advanced level training is provided using problem-solving approaches with the review and discussion of numerous clinical cases.

Since the target audience consists of veterinarians and animal scientists, very little time is devoted to basic subjects (anatomy, physiology…). For those who wish to review these basic subjects prior to our courses, these will be covered by online information prior to the courses. Upon completion of a training program, the participants will have obtained a level of competence which will enable them to solve most of the problems in the specialized areas.

The WVEPAH courses include lectures, discussions, demonstrations, clinical case presentations and laboratory work. A special emphasis is placed on the various ways and means to find specific information in the literature and how to use it for self-study and clinical work. Daily seminars and review sessions help to develop critical evaluation of the case material presented.

Our core study program is composed of two Modules, available online or following a hybrid format (online lectures combined with one residential session lasting 5 days). For all registered participants, the WVEAPH distance learning continues after attending our Modules through the WVEPAH private Facebook group.

Requirements to register on our WVEAPH modules include have a university degree in veterinary or animal science studies with a minimum of three years' work experience in one of the three WVEPAH branches. According to the rules of the WOAH, please note that only graduates in veterinary medicine will be eligible for the Certificate exams. However, all participants will receive an attestation of participation.

To allow the most effective interactions between participants and Course Masters, the number of participants is limited. The program of our courses is designed to obtain the best combination of formal lectures and practical sessions and discussions, with dedicated time reserved for practical sessions and problem-solving exercises.

Each course is taught by course masters who are internationally recognized specialists in their field and have excellent didactic skills. In the period(s) between sessions, participants receive online material and tasks from their course masters.

The course masters are responsible for the scientific content of their lectures as well as for conducting the courses. Host partner universities are chosen for their excellent reputation and the quality of their technical platform. The WVEPAH looks after the general organization of the courses, the local logistics and provides assistance to the participants.

Upon meeting all requirements (passing grades for the final exams of Module I and II and passing grades for 25 submitted clinical cases), eligible participants will obtain one of the “Professional Certificate in Animal Health: Poultry, Swine Production or Aquaculture Farming delivered by the Université de Montréal and validated by the World Organisation for Animal Health.

In brief, the requirements for the WVEPAH program are:
